Manifesting My Best Year Yet: Setting Goals That Stick

Have you ever looked at the clock, realized another year has passed, and asked yourself, “What am I doing with my life?” Sis, let me tell you, that was me last December. I was tired of half-baked goals, broken promises (to myself), and endless “I’ll start next Monday” cycles. So, this year, I decided to rewrite the narrative—no more letting life happen to me. Instead, I’m manifesting the life I deserve.

But here’s the gag: Manifestation isn’t just vision boards and Pinterest pins; it’s actionable goals backed by a game plan. And guess what? It’s working. Let me walk you through my process—the what, why, how, and where of how I’m slaying my goals and how you can too.

The What: Recognizing What You Truly Want

First things first, I had to get real with myself. What do I actually want this year? Not the cute-sounding goals you tell your coworkers in the breakroom, but the stuff that truly sets your soul on fire. For me, it was health, organization, and intention.

  • Health: I want to feel good in my body. I’m prediabetic, so this isn’t just about looking cute in a sundress; it’s about living long enough to be that fly auntie who still dances at family cookouts.
  • Organization: Managing a call center, juggling two teens, and trying to maintain a social life? Baby, I needed systems!
  • Intention: I’m done with chaos. I want everything I do to have a purpose—from what I eat to the books I read.

The Why: Your Goals Need a Purpose

Here’s the tea: If your goals don’t have a deeper meaning, they won’t stick. I’ve learned that the hard way.

  • I restarted my workout apps and got a Fitbit because I don’t just want to lose weight; I want to feel energized and strong.
  • I’m juicing now because my body deserves the nutrients it’s been begging for (plus, celery juice makes me feel bougie).
  • My new planner isn’t just to write down appointments; it’s a tool to keep me on track and remind me of the bigger picture.

Why am I putting in all this work? Because I deserve to thrive. Simple as that.

The How: Building Systems That Work

Let’s be real—manifestation without action is just daydreaming. Here’s how I’ve turned my dreams into plans:

1. Tech is My Bestie

I’ve restarted my favorite workout apps, synced my Fitbit, and even set up ChatGPT to help me stick to my schedule. Tech keeps me accountable because, honestly, if it’s not in my phone, it’s not happening.

2. Invest in Tools That Spark Joy

When my Dad got me a juicer for Christmas, I knew it was game on. There’s something about sipping on fresh green juice that makes you feel like you have your life together. I also added new supplements to my routine because why not give my body all the help it needs?

3. Write It Down, Make It Real

My new planner is my lifeline. Not only does it keep me organized, but it’s also a daily reminder of what I’m working towards. Plus, there’s something satisfying about crossing things off a to-do list.

4. Curate Your Inspiration

Over the next few months, I’ve lined up a stack of books to read. These aren’t just any books; they inspire growth, spark joy, or teach me something new. You are what you consume, and that goes for your mind too.

The Where: Creating Spaces That Support Your Goals

Where you do your work matters. Your environment can either inspire you or drain you, so I’ve made some changes:

  • Kitchen Makeover: The juicer now has a prime spot on the counter, and my pantry is stocked with healthy snacks and smoothie ingredients.
  • Workout Corner: I cleared a space in my living room for my yoga mat and weights. Having it visible reminds me to move my body.
  • Reading Nook: I turned the patio into a cozy reading area. Now, I can’t wait to curl up with a good book.

Recognizing Positive Traits in Potential Workplaces

As I’ve been working on my personal goals, I’ve realized how much they mirror what I look for in a good workplace. Just like my goals, a great job should:

  • Have Purpose: You should know exactly why you’re there and how your role contributes to the bigger picture.
  • Provide Tools for Success: Whether it’s training, mentorship, or just a supportive team, the right workplace equips you to thrive.
  • Foster a Positive Environment: Like my reading nook or workout corner, your job should be a space that inspires you.
  • Encourage Growth: Just as I’m constantly learning and improving, a good job pushes you to evolve and get better.
