Why vetting is so Important part 5 - Girl in Htown

Why vetting is so Important part 5

I was blessed with a Mother in Law not from Hell I have heard horror stories from Friends about their  In-laws and the families of the person they have dated. I don’t mind a family oriented person I do mind Helicopter parents and family members with a grown a man. I missed Family get together since my ex-was in the military and I spent all of my young adult life away from family. One mistake I realized was telling my friends and family everything after my marriage ended I think I did this for the simple fact when things ended with my ex-husband everyone was shocked I painted such a great picture of him they found me crazy to think I would leave him. My life was perfect, right  ? I believe having a healthy balance of having a support system is great but with that being said not everyone should be apart of everything that goes in in your relationship.

Questions  about Family

  • What are your expectations for your spouse’s involvement with your parents, siblings, and extended family members?
  • What are your holiday plans? Will you host or travel? How do you decide which family to spend the holidays with?
  • Is it ok to confide the details of your marriage with family members? If yes, what are the limits and boundaries?
  • Would an aging parent ever live with you? Under what conditions?
